HOW TO READ CROCHET PATTERNS WORKSHOP

Presented by Peggy Harris

 September 11, 2021 1– 3:00PM

This workshop will familiarize students with basic crochet reading and application including the discussion of crochet pattern abbreviations crucial to effective pattern reading, the structure of written crochet patterns, and correlates the students’ general knowledge of crochet pattern reading to the physical application of crochet stitches.

Each student should bring a skein of #4 worsted weight yarn in medium tones (no blacks, dark blues or whites), an H/5mm crochet hook, a pen, a highlighter and any other crochet tools you feel you may need to work up a small pattern in rows and in the round. Written materials will be provided by the instructor.

Upon completion of the workshop, students should be able to read and execute a simple crochet pattern with ease.  This course is meant to cover the basics of crochet pattern reading.  In depth advanced crochet pattern reading can be obtained by scheduling an appointment with the instructor at a future date.

The workshop is $35 for members and $45 for non- members.

DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS CLASS FOR ADULTS

Presented by Diana Johnson

October 14, 21, & 28 – 6-8 PM

Everyone can learn to draw no matter what skill level you think you are at now.  Previous drawing knowledge is helpful but not necessary and if you have the skills but want to improve them this class is for you too.  A quick overview of materials and techniques will help each student know where to start. Then students will be guided at their own pace learning how to draw and sketch as well as how to shade with graphite pencils.  Still life drawing will be as simple or extensive as the student wants to tackle as they grow more confident in their skills.  Students will complete weekly exercises to achieve a final drawing.
