Juneteenth Celebration in the Park

Bebe SmithDate: June 17, 2017
Time: 1-4pm
Location: River Bend Park in Louisburg, located downtown at the end of Church Street.

Come enjoy the beautiful park on the banks of the Tar River, listen to the music and shop with our vendors. Visitors may bring a picnic lunch for themselves and a chair. There are playground areas with swings, slides and more for the children to enjoy.

The Diversity committee is accepting applications for free vendor space. Only packaged food is allowed, no hot or home-cooked foods without a health department license.

No alcohol is allowed in the park. Promotional, arts, crafts, and products are welcome. Email Jackie Dove-Miller at dovmiller@aol.com to reserve your spot. TLC Entertainment has confirmed the following R&B and Gospel acts: Mr. Chenier, BB Smith, Kathy Powerhouse, Kimberly Charlene, and Derek Dion Daniels.

Open Mic 2017 The FCAC Diversity Team will observe Black History Month with an Open Mic February 25th at 3pm. Location is at One Man’s Treasure Auction House on 200 E. Nash Street, Louisburg. The theme is Freedom and all genres are welcome including poetry, prose and song. There will be a seven-minute time limit for each performance. The public is invited to attend and participate. This is a free event, including refreshments.

Our Poetry Slam 2017 was well attended, but only one registered contestant (thank you Linda Riggins) showed. We were not discouraged and turned the event into an Open Mic, with five poets reading. We enjoying fellowship and refreshments after the readings.
