The Franklin County Arts Council offers a diverse array of art classes for adults. The cost to members usually ranges between $0-$35 per class. (Non-Members may also participate for a small additional fee of $5-$10 per class.) The class cost includes all course materials. Our recent curriculum has included courses teaching the art of Silk Scarf decorating, Felting, Acrylic and Oil painting, and acrylic paint pouring. Have you been working on something special you want to share with the community? The Franklin County Arts Council offers many opportunities to do so. Member artists have the option of consigning their work for sale in our gallery. We also host a regular schedule of various art exhibitions that are accompanied by a gallery reception. Last, but certainly not least, members are also encouraged to participate in our two annual juried art competitions, the Members Art Show and the Photography Show.


The Artist Guild meets quarterly at 12:00 noon to plan events, classes and bring new ideas. The Photographers Guild is a mix of experienced and novice photographers. New members are always welcome. Meetings provide both basic and advanced skills; field trips, and member sharing opportunities. Stop by and check us out.

The Writers Guild supports and encourages writers of all genres and levels of expertise. New members are always welcome.

The Writer’s Guild meets at Donna Campbell Smith’s home studio the 3rd Sunday in January, March, May, July, September, and November.

The Diversity Team seeks out and sponsors culturally diverse arts opportunities to increase interest, awareness, and participation in Franklin County. NC Arts Grassroots Grants

Franklin County Arts Council serves as the North Carolina Arts Council’s partner in awarding subgrants to local organizations for arts programs in Franklin County. 


Franklin County Arts Council is now accepting applications for North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program subgrants through December 31, 2019. Applications are available for non-profit organizations whose purpose is to promote and develop diverse cultural arts programming in Franklin county. The Quilt Trails of the Tar and Roanoke Rivers

is a Franklin County Arts Council project that captures the history of our community through the display of quilt blocks on historic buildings and structures in Franklin and surrounding counties. While traveling through Central and Eastern North Carolina to view the quilt blocks, travelers can enjoy the area’s art, history, agriculture, and scenic byways.
